Road Trips

On Friday it was decided to take a quick trip to SF on Monday and Tuesday. Andrew was able to get acquainted with his campus. It's full of beautiful architecture and seems like a great place. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

We were blessed with beautiful blue skies and sunshine with a nice breeze.

As we drove around San Francisco getting to know the neighborhoods, Andrew had a map and was crossing out neighborhoods we weren't fond of. They were all livable, but we can afford to be picky at the moment and we would love to live in a neighborhood that has the SF feel. Hills, old victorian buildings, preferably close to Golden Gate Park.

We had lunch at a cute little Italian restaurant Pasquale's Pizzeria, in Inner Sunset. I got a meatball sandwich, Andrew got a chicken parmesan sandwich. They were SO GOOD! I know where to go if I'm ever in the mood for a meatball sub :)

Fill in the Blank Friday

1.  The best surprise ever would be,   a vacation to a warm beach    .

2.   Spending time at the Gates house with Andrew and Jack   is my most favorite memory .

3.  The hardest, but most worthwhile thing I've ever done was     have a long-distance no-communication relationship with Andrew while he was in Alaska for 6 months  .

4.  The best part of my day is    the evening when Andrew gets home from work and I can stop studying :) .

5. Something I like that most people don't is      a mix of mustard and mayo on cooked ham .

6. Something I am willing to fight for is     my family and faith  .

7.  Something you might not know about me is    I love art and photography. I'm not that great at creating it though  .

Here fishy fishy fishy...

Andrew and I headed over to the Klamath River to enjoy a day of fishing. I had never fly fished before so Andrew had to teach me a few things but we had fun. Sheppie didn't have as much fun as we did.

She got scared near the top of the cliff and wouldn't climb down the boulders. Andrew went back up and tried to coax her down.

After a while he finally just picked her up and carried her down. The rest of the day as we moved downstream we had to coax and carry her over rocks.

Shep was so stressed when Andrew put her down next to the river that she started swimming in circles.

Sheppie was very content laying on a large rock.

Salmon and Stone Flies were hatching everywhere. Here is a salmon fly Andrew tied and the real insect on a rock.

Shep liked to nest in the grass. Andrew liked to fish in the middle of the river.

On Andrew's last cast he caught a large trout. Sadly, he had traded fly rods with me and was using the 4 weight. The fishy broke the line when it darted downstream and disappeared :(

Near the end of the day I finally caught a fish!!! They had been biting all day but I couldn't set the hook for some reason. I was getting really frustrated.

Shep was weird (surprise, surprise) and sat in the river watching us. She looked miserable the entire time but I like to think she had a little bit of fun :)

After a day of fishing and having to climb back up the cliff to the car in Andrew's waders and boots. Try climbing up loose rock and dirt in clown shoes.... it's not very fun or easy.

It was a well spent day on the river! I caught my first fish on a fly rod, but I do need some more practice. It helps when your teacher is a professional fishing guide :)

Mother's Day

We celebrated a day early with Grandma King and Mom by going to a Mother-Daughter brunch at Cornerstone on Saturday. The company, talent, food, and coffee were great.

Today we headed out to Silverton to have brunch with the Johnson family! It was great to see family that we haven't seen in months.

In the evening we had dinner with Dan, he knows how to grill amazing fish! Tonight's treat was salmon. We also hung out with Jack, Lily, and the cats :)

Grizzly Peak Hiking

Andrew had Tuesday off so we loaded up the puppies (Jack was visiting from Salem!) and took them on a much deserved hike. There were still large patches of snow but the hike was mostly warm and sunny.

Adorable puppies! Shep and Jack took turns wearing the pack that held their bowl and water.

Silly Jack

Such a cute couple!

The dog's faces in this picture crack me up!

Jack is so handsome!

It was a beautiful sunny day for a hike!
